This Privacy Policy explains how StorageMap ("the App") handles information when you use its storage analysis, file browsing, duplicate detection, installed-app overview, and file management features.
StorageMap is designed to help users understand storage usage and review files on their Android devices. The information the App can access depends on your Android version, the permissions you grant, the features you use, and the version installed.
1. Information the App May Access
Depending on the features available and permissions granted, the App may access or process:
- File information: File names, file paths or locations, file sizes, file types, MIME types, modification dates, and other metadata exposed by Android.
- Media information: Information about accessible photos, videos, and audio files, such as their names, sizes, types, and locations. The App's ability to access file contents depends on the feature used and applicable Android permissions.
- Storage statistics: Used space, available space, partition information, category totals, and file counts where available.
- Duplicate analysis: File sizes and other available file information or signatures used to identify potential duplicate files.
- Installed-app information: App names, package identifiers, versions, and storage information exposed by Android and available to the App.
- App preferences and history: Search terms, sorting choices, filters, or saved analysis information if these features are included in the installed version.
2. How Information Is Used
Information accessed by StorageMap may be used to:
- Calculate and display storage usage by category.
- List, search, filter, and sort accessible files.
- Identify large files and potential duplicate candidates.
- Display file metadata and available installed-app information.
- Support file opening, sharing, and deletion when requested.
- Display storage summaries and supported analysis results.
File information is used to provide the features you select. The App should access only the information necessary for the requested functionality and the permissions granted by you.
3. Storage Permissions and File Access
StorageMap uses Android storage APIs to discover and analyze files available to it. The precise access method depends on the Android version and the app's implementation.
- Media access: Standard Android media permissions or system file pickers may be used to access supported media or files selected by you.
- All files access: If the installed version requests
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, this permission may allow broader access to shared storage for the App's core file analysis features. It is not required by every storage analyzer and should be requested only where permitted by Google Play policy. - App information: Access to installed-app details may be limited by Android version, package visibility rules, and system restrictions.
Granting a permission does not mean the App can access every protected area of your device. Android restrictions still apply to system partitions, private app directories, and other protected locations.
4. Local Processing and Offline Use
Core storage calculations and file analysis are designed to run on your device. Where supported by the installed version, file information and analysis results are processed locally and do not require an account.
Some Android features, sharing destinations, or third-party integrations may operate outside the App. If online services, analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs are included in a particular version, their handling of information must be described according to the services actually used.
5. File Deletion and Management
StorageMap may allow you to open, share, or delete individual files through supported Android APIs. File deletion is performed only following an action initiated by you and any required confirmation.
Deleted files may not be recoverable. Review the selected file and its location before confirming deletion. StorageMap does not promise to remove all unwanted files or clean protected Android system areas.
6. Sharing Files and Information
When you choose to share a file, the App may pass the selected file or its content to the Android sharing interface or another destination you select. The receiving application or service will handle the shared information according to its own privacy policy.
Review the destination and the content you intend to share before proceeding.
7. Data Sharing and Sale
StorageMap's core purpose is on-device storage analysis. We do not sell personal information as part of the App's core functionality. Information may be transferred when you explicitly share a file, when a third-party service included in the App processes information, or when disclosure is required by applicable law.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Information saved by the App may remain on your device until you delete it, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. Available deletion options depend on the installed version and the type of information involved.
Copies shared with other applications, saved elsewhere, or included in device backups may remain outside StorageMap and may need to be deleted separately.
9. Security
We recommend protecting your device with a screen lock and reviewing file permissions carefully. Files accessible to StorageMap may also be accessible to other applications or people according to Android's file access controls and your device configuration.
No method of electronic storage or processing can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. Children's Privacy
StorageMap is a general-purpose utility and is not specifically designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe that information has been handled inappropriately through the App, please contact us for review.
11. Third-Party Services
If the App includes third-party services such as advertising, analytics, or crash reporting, those providers may process technical information according to their own privacy policies. The applicable Google Play Data safety disclosures should reflect the actual libraries and services included in the published version.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when app features, data practices, or applicable requirements change. Updates will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
